Press Releases:

·      The Lower Alabama Parrot Heads have been in the Islander, The Mullet Wrapper and the Mobile Register with an article extolling our accomplishments in 2008 and those yet to be in 2009.

Old Business:

·      The Lower Alabama Parrot Heads manned a rest stop for the MS Bike Tour May 2 & 3rd.  There were fewer riders than in previous years (60 to 70 riders on Saturday and approximately 40 riders on Sunday.  Our rest stop was voted the number one stop both days – Krispy Kremes on Saturday and hula lessons on Sunday helped sway the vote.  We donated 60 hours for this event.  This brings our total to over 400 hours so far in 2009.  Phins up to us.

·      The State of the Phlock for 2009 has been released.  Worldwide, Parrot Head Clubs donated over 175,000 parrot-hours and $3,200,000 dollars to charity.  For the entire report, please go to www.phip.org and read the latest “Tradewinds”.

NEW BUSINESS:

·      BARC Dog Gone Golf Scramble:  The Baldwin Animal Rescue’s Center’s fund raising golf tournament will be our next event.  We will be assisting them in putting on the tournament.  There will be no iPod or bubbles – golf is a quiet game.  I know this will be our greatest challenge, but I know we are up for it.  The day is Friday, June 5th beginning about 9:00 AM at Craft Farms in Gulf Shores.  It is not too late to volunteer, just let Kim know at kim26607@yahoo.com.  Currently there are 10  volunteers and two  members playing.  Come on out and help our furry friends. It was then moved and seconded to donate $100.00 to BARC at the Dog Gone Golf Scramble.

·      Each of the four sponsoring clubs from STARS received $150.00 from the STARS Board of Directors to offset some of the club’s miscellaneous expenses.  This is not done every year, but this year was a great year.   It was moved and seconded to put these funds into our charity account.

 Up-coming events:

·      Tom and Judy are planning a pool party at their house in Pensacola on Sunday, June 7th.  An e-mail has been sent out with the time, place and directions.  Please e-mail Judy and Tom at judygo2cjb@bellsouth.net to RSVP.  Our own weather guy, Ridge, has received orders to make it a pretty weekend.

·      Still looking into a pontoon boat trip on a Sunday in late August with Captain Bill.  This will have to be coordinated around his schedule and the tourists.

·      A cruise out of Mobile in April or May of 2010 has been discussed.  This is not a Parrot Head event – just something phun to do that is basically in our backyard.

Please send in your vote for the date to kim26607@yahoo.com.

Website:  The “web dude”, Cy Myers continues to do a phabulous job on the website.  If you have information, pictures or words you would like to see on the web, just shoot him an e-mail – myers.cy@gmail.com.

The “Fruitcake Basket” was generously donated by Cy & Kay Myers.  Gene and Mary Ann were the lucky winners this month.  Also, 3 more shirts and 3 CD’s were raffled off.

Stars Fell on Alabama 2010

·       STARS will be held in the 1st weekend of March 2010.

·      The sponsoring clubs will receive information about registering in June.  When registration opens, get yours in.  It fills up really fast and you don’t want to miss all the phun – besides we will talk about the members who aren’t there.

·      The meeting to select the bands will be held on June 7th.  It is open to all members.  If you want to attend, just send e-mail Kim and the details of the meeting will magically arrive.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:00 PM.

The next meeting is Saturday, June 13th.  See ya there!!!!
