Charity Balance (included in above figures): $41.00
The Charity Balance will be held until the total amount reaches $100. At which time, the money will be distributed to charity.
Stars Fell on Alabama: An unqualified success. Total dollar amounts are still being tabulated. Everyone felt that our baskets were the best. Thanks to all the volunteers. The STARS Board of Directors had a special raffle for the volunteers. A raffle ticket was given to each volunteer for each hour of volunteer time. One prize went to David “Frankie” Curran (registration fee for STARS 2011) and one prize went to Kim Dahlgren (CD’s of all the performing artists & $50 cash). Everyone had a very good time. When registration opens up for the hosts clubs, do not hesitate. This event fills up fast. Registration for STARS 2011 should be announced in the June/July time frame.
Cycling the Coast for a Cure: This is being done in conjunction with Kaiser Realty. Registration is from 8 am – 9 am on April 3, 2010 at Tacky Jack’s. The past two years we have manned a couple of water stations. This year they want us to be “the entertainment”. (I don’t get it). Our own Bill & Colleen will be playing (will we ever learn the “O” Song?). Kim has a list of the volunteers. If you are not sure if you volunteered or not, please send Kim an e-mail kim26607@yahoo.com.
Shrimp Festival: No reply from the letter sent regarding our bad experiences as volunteers. Letters were sent to several officials including the new president of the Chamber.
Cruise: Tommy and Judy Rosemond are having a “Scruise Party” for the people registered for the cruise in May. Several members of the Parrot Heads of Pensacola are also going on this cruise and they would like to have a “meet and great” before the ship sets sail. It will be on April 24, 2010 at 1 PM at Tommy and Judy’s house. It will be BYOB and bring an appetizer to share. People have already expressed an interest in a cruise for 2011.
Jelly Fish Bar: An unofficial, informal get-together is planned for 12:30 (that’s 30 minutes after noon, not midnight) at the Jelly Fish Bar on Perdido Key on March 31. Stop by and have a light lunch and a few drinks – or vice versa.
Coastal Conservation of Alabama (CCA) Beach Party: This is not a Parrot Head event, but a fundraiser, which helps preserve the coast of Alabama. It is scheduled for April 10, 2010 at Guy Harvey’s at the Wharf, 6 pm – 9 pm. Top Hat and Jackie will provide the entertainment. Advance tickets are $35 for a single and $50 for a couple. This includes a one-year membership to the CCA. A bottomless glass will be sold for $15. There will be a silent auction and raffles going on. Come on out and support a good cause.
West Beach Grill: Tonight, March 13th, Bill and Colleen will be playing at West Beach Grille. They start at 6pm. Come on down and have some fun.
Sunset Cruise: Jenny Curtis and Jackie Grear are working on scheduling a three-hour cruise (insert theme song) on Captain Bill’s 52-foot catamaran, The Cetecean. The sailing cruise would last about 3 hours and coast $30 per person. A tentative date has been set for Saturday, May 8th, however, a firm date will be set at the next meeting. The plan is to leave the dock (in Orange Beach) around 6 PM. Bring your own drinks and an appetizer to share.
Raffle: The raffle this month was generously provided by “Plane “ Jane Veillon and won by Sybille Matievich. A total of $88 was collected. Thank you for being such a generous group.
The next meeting will be on April 10th at 11:15 AM at LuLu’s. See ya there!!
Meeting was adjourned at 2:45 PM.
