Minutes of the Meeting,   February 20, 2010

Kim Dahlgren called the meeting to order at 11:27 AM.   There were 51 members present and three new members Tommy and Tammy Stewart and Gary Lepak.

Treasurer’s Report:  Jane Traver.  Jane showed a balance of $  3,623.23 after deposits of             $  677.00 and expenses of $ 457.00. The charity account has a balance of $ 41.00.

Expenses included our $ 100.00 loss to the Pensacola club for LAPH lost at the Polar Bear Dip contest again (WE WILL WIN NEXT YEAR FOR SURE).  

BUSINESS:  

1.     Election of officers completed.  Incumbents all re-elected.  Thank you to Cookie and Gerald Ogden for collecting the ballots.

2.     Shrimp Festival – Kim sent letters regarding our bad experiences as volunteers. No response yet received from the event organizers.

3.     Cycling the Coast for a Cure – Scheduled for April 3rd Volunteers need to show-up at Tacky Jack’s by 8:00 AM.  We may not be working the water stations this year. Think they plan to figure out what to do with us…when we get there….LOL…the talk is “they us to want add local color and fun!”  Please contact Kim if you would like to participate.

4.     Orange Beach Seafood Festival – We will have a basket and a membership forms at the event.

5.     Lulu’s events – We provided walkers for Lulu’s float in the Mardi Gras parade and we also assisted at Lulu’s “Renew Vows Event” on February 14th.

6.     St. Charles Place:  This is a business in Orange Beach that has been very good to STARS.  They have an employee whose child is sick and they are planning a fundraiser.  They have asked us to help out.  Details are still being worked out, but they will let us know.

7.     Cruise from Mobile on May 15 – All cruisers are invited to a “get to know you” party with the Pensacola and Lower Alabama clubs---------at Tommy and Judy Rosemont’ house. Party will be Saturday, April 24 from 1-6 PM.  More info along with directions will be provided by Tommy and Judy. 

8.     STARS – 484 registered to attend. Applications for day-passes due by February 24.

9.     West Beach Grill:  Our new member, Gary Lepak is opening a new restaurant, West Beach Grill. It is at the site where Foxy’s was located. Our own bands (Bill and Coleen) and (Doug and Michele) will be providing entertainment on Saturday February 27th.

10.  Stars Fell on Alabama:  Volunteers are being sought to work at STARS events. You need to be registered to work.

No raffle basket at this meeting.

Next meeting will be at Lulu’s, 11:15, March 12. Be there early.

Meeting was adjourned at 12:30 PM by Kim Dahlgren. 

All members were invited to Kim and Tyler’s house following the meeting to participate in making the raffle baskets to be used at STARS.
