Christmas Party: This annual Christmas party will once again be at the Bear Point Community Center. The date has yet to be determined – we have to check with the venue – a possibility is the second Sunday in December. Izzy Sayers has once again graciously donated the $100.00 fee to reservation the community center for our party. Thanks Izzy! There will be a Rasta or Dirty Santa. More details will be forthcoming.
Bay Minette Christmas Festival:. We have once again been invited to judge their Christmas Parade. There was some discussion as to a group going up the night before...bringing our own furry friends to participate in the Animal parade prior to the "real" parade. Mayor Jamie suggested it would be nice if some of the Parrot Heads could sing a Christmas song on stage Friday evening. Much to be decided about all but the judging at this time. The ddate and time of the parade to follow as soon as we hear from "The Mayor".
Phunfest: A reminder that the Emerald Coast Parrot Heads and the Parrot Heads of Pensacola will be holding their 3rd annual PHUNFEST on September 24th-26th. Lots of fun activities and great bands...for additional information check out their web site: www.ecparrotheads.org.
9th Annual Lulu: Sponsored by the Isle O’Bama in Montgomery. This event is scheduled for August 22, 2009. The music will be provided by Parrot Tales. Details are available at www.isleobama.com

Please contact Jane Traver at janetarver@gultel.com to let her know what you will be bringing to the after party.
STARS: SOLD OUT!!! The Island Hotel sold out every room in 72 hours...an amazing feat! The event sold out in 3 weeks. WHO KNEW?? Kim has received a pledge for the first $1,000.00 donation for a shirt logo. Another amazing feat! Logo's can be purchased for $125/$250/$500/$1,000 - The larger the amount the bigger the logo. It is also time to begin gathering stuff for the goodie bags, raffles and silent auction – keep your eyes open for great stuff.
Jane Traver informed us of a very ill fellow Parrot Head from the Coastal Alabama club. Bobby Iden had a stroke and is in serious condition. He is currently in intensive care in a Gulfport hospital. His wife, Jackie is by his side. Jane will supply us with progress reports as things unfold. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bobby and Jackie. Late News: Bobby passed away on Monday, August 17. He was very involved with STARS and he will be missed by everyone.
There are only three more meetings in 2009. September, November and December. No meeting in October due to the Shrimp Fest.
Kim called the meeting to a close at 12:30 PM. The raffle basket, so generously donated by Debbie Ensor, was won by Jane Veillon. A total of $102.00 was collected for the charity fund.
The next meeting is scheduled for September 12, 2009 at 11:15 at Lulu’s.
This is the last meeting before the Coastal Cleanup and Shrimp Fest.
