Charity Balance (included in above figures): $0.00 WE GAVE IT AWAY!!!!
The Charity Balance will be held until the total amount reaches $100. At which time, the money will be distributed to charity. The switch to Wachovia from Whitney Bank is complete
Shrimp Festival: No reply from the letter sent regarding our bad experiences as volunteers. Letters were sent to several officials including the new president of the Chamber.
Cruise: Everybody survived the cruise, but not much talkin’ going on. I understand that all those that did not go, missed a very good time.
Fundraiser: A fundraiser was held on Sunday May 23 from noon to 5 PM for Sarah Kelly a, 17 year-old who was diagnosed with Leukemia 2 days before Thanksgiving. Nora Sheen, at St. Charles Place, spearheaded this fundraiser. Nora has asked the Lower Alabama Parrot Heads to help. In fact, she made sure the day of the event was separate from STARS. St. Charles Place and Nora have been very big supporters of Stars Fell on Alabama. A total of 40.5 hours will be added to our total for the June interim report to PHiP. I understand that over $5,000 was raised for Sarah and her family.
Coastal Cleanup: Mark your calendars – this event is scheduled for September 10. It is still unknown if this event will still happen due to the oil spill, but keep that date anyway.
MS Bike Tour: Again – Mark your calendars – this event is scheduled for September 18/19. We have a busy September.
Buffett Hotel: Opening sometime soon in Pensacola. Sounds like a “road trip”
Stars Fell On Alabama: Registration is now open. Do not delay in getting your registration in. When this opens to the public, it will fill up quickly. Registration forms were available and several club members filled them out to the sent to STARS in a single package.
Orange Beach Volunteer Fire Department: A suggestion was made that in 2011 we help the Orange Beach Volunteer Fire Department with their annual BBQ. This is a fundraiser that they do and they need our help. We will put this on the calendar for next year.
Pop Tops: Keep saving those pop tops. The Ronald McDonald House uses these to help support their efforts. The pop top is worth more that then whole can.
Raffle: The raffle this month was generously provided by Camille Warren and won by Jane Veillion. A total of $100 was collected. Thank you for being such a generous group.
The next meeting will be on July 10th at 11:15 AM at LuLu’s. See ya there!!
