Minutes of the Meeting
April 10, 2010
Welcome to our new members and all the guests. Because we have grown so much and have so many members attending (that is not a complaint), we have moved the meeting to the new covered area at LuLu’s. It is great.

Charity Balance (included in above figures): $85.00
The Charity Balance will be held until the total amount reaches $100. At which time, the money will be distributed to charity. The bank has been switched to Wachovia, but the treasurer is waiting on the last check to clear before closing the account at Whitney Bank.
Parrot Points and Hours: Parrot Points are collected for each event and are used to allocate the purchase of Jimmy Buffett tickets should he ever perform in our region. All volunteer hours and dollars are recorded and that data is forwarded to our umbrella organization, Parrot Heads in Paradise (PHiP) in July and at the end of the year.
Stars Fell on Alabama: Total dollar amounts are still being tabulated. It was voted to provide each charity with an equal split of the total.

Cycling the Coast for a Cure: This was done in conjunction with Kaiser Realty. Everybody had a great time. They really do enjoy the Parrot Heads being there. Bill & Colleen were great entertainment. Will we ever learn the “O” Song???? A total of 76 volunteer hours will be applied to our 2010 total.
Shrimp Festival: No reply from the letter sent regarding our bad experiences as volunteers. Letters were sent to several officials including the new president of the Chamber.
Cruise: To those who are going on the cruise – we will just live vicariously through you. Tell us what you can when you get back. What happens on the cruise – stays on the cruise.
Coastal Conservation of Alabama (CCA) Beach Party: This is not a Parrot Head event, but a fundraiser, which helps preserve the coast of Alabama. It is scheduled for April 10, 2010 at Guy Harvey’s at the Wharf, 6 pm – 9 pm. Top Hat and Jackie will provide the entertainment. Advance tickets are $35 for a single and $50 for a couple. This includes a one-year membership to the CCA. A bottomless glass will be sold for $15. There will be a silent auction and raffles going on. Come on out and support a good cause.
West Beach Grill: Tonight, April 10th, Bill and Colleen will be playing at West Beach Grille. They start at 4 pm. Come on down and have some fun.
Sunset Cruise: Jenny Curtis and Jackie Grear are working on scheduling a three-hour cruise (insert theme song) on Captain Bill’s 52-foot catamaran, The Cetecean. The sailing cruise would last about 3 hours and coast $30 per person. More details has they emerge.
Bike Ride: LuLu’s has requested some help for a bike ride to be held on May 2. More details as we get them. This will be a bike ride from Page & Palette in Fairhope to LuLu’s in Gulf Shores. Plane Jane Veillon has volunteered to chair this event.

Pop Tops: Keep saving those pop tops. The Ronald McDonald House uses these to help support their efforts. The pop top is worth more that then whole can.
Raffle: The raffle this month was generously provided by Sybille Matievich and won by Ellen Murphy. A total of $83 was collected. Thank you for being such a generous group.
The next meeting will be on May 8th at 11:15 AM at LuLu’s. See ya there!!
