Lower Alabama Parrot Head Club Minutes – June 2011
The meeting was called to order by Club President Kim Dahlgren at Lulu’s Restaurant at 11:32 AM, June 11, 2011
Present were 39 members and 8 guests/potential members
TREASURER’S REPORT – Jane Tarver gave the Treasurer’s Report. Balance forward was $5,111.94. Income/deposits was $334.00 including raffle, dues, tee shirt sales and a refund from Bear Point Club House rental (This was for the Christmas party). Expenses were $3,290.18 leaving a balance of $2,155.76. All expenses were charity donations and charity expenses leaving a charity account balance of 12.50.
Kim introduced guests and reported that we now have 145 members.
FLY-IN-- On May 21st the same fly-in group from the Birmingham area conducted a fly-in to Jack Edwards Airport to collect toys for tornado victims. We read about the fly-in and members showed up to greet the aviators with toys and Mardi-Gras beads. This was similar to what club members did when the group had a fly-in to support our area during oil spill. We had 18 hours of member support for this event.
BARC DOG GONE GOLF SCRAMBLE– Members supported BARC with 17.5 hours of time during the golfing fundraiser. We handled the blindfolded putting contest, sign-in and other activities.
SIX STRING MUSIC EVENT – Three PH clubs in the New Orleans area will be hosting this event. It is a fundraiser similar to our STARS. Host hotel is the Tropical. There will be music events at several venues around NOLA including Margaritaville, Funky Pirate and Club Tropical Isle. Music will be original only. Our own Brett Burns will be among the entertainers.
CENTRAL OKLAHOMA PH CLUB CRUISE – There will be a PH cruise out of New Orleans from January 15 thru 21. The event also includes 3 days in New Orleans prior to the cruise. Larry and Sharon Ramirez have all the information.
PIRATES ON THE PANHANDLE – The Navarre PH Club will be holding this event at Lulu’s on June 25th starting at 11:00 am. They will be coming over via bus and all PHs are invited.
COASTAL CLEAN-UP – Will be on September 17th this year with the great party at Kim’s afterward. Mark your calendars.
WONDERFUL WACKY WOMEN EVENT- This will be a silent auction event to be held at the Flora-Bama. They have asked us to handle the silent auction for them as they were so impressed by the way we do it at STARS. We helped with this event last year and it was a lot of phun. So mark your calendars for October 29th. Just another excuse to go to the Flora Bama, abet at 8:00 in the morning.

Brent Burns & Sunny Jim – Free concert on June 30th, 6:00 to 9:00 PM on the lawn at the Erie Meyer Center in Gulf Shores.
OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS
Heidi Lipe’s Mother passed recently. Hurricane Jane will send a card from our club.
Debbie Noojin won the Fruitcake basket. Would whoever left the basket on the table before the meeting, please send me an e-mail. Your name has been lost to history and I want to make sure you get credit for it.
Orange Beach Fire Department is having their annual fundraiser TODAY. So stop by on the way home and pick up some great bar-b-que.
